Use the report

The Patron Statistics - Summary provides information for several purposes:

  • Collect circulation data for district reports.
  • Monitor the circulation habits of each patron type.
  • Measure the impact of reading programs on circulation.
  • Discover the circulation statistics of a particular segment of patrons.
Example: If you group by Grade Level and then by Homeroom, view a report that shows the circulation statistics for each homeroom grouped within grade levels.

Customize the report

Initially, the report shows the patrons grouped by Patron Type. You can change the grouping, and limit the patrons that are included.

To group the patrons by Patron Type, Patron Status, Grade Level, Homeroom, or a user-defined field:

  1. At the top left, click Customize Summary, or scroll to the bottom of the page.
  2. Select the Group by field for grouping the patrons and optionally, a second field for sub-grouping.
  3. To exclude any of the Patron Types or Statuses from the report, deselect any checkboxes.
  4. To view the reconfigured summary, click Update.

Any patrons who do not have information in the Group by field appear under the heading Other on the Summary.

Calculate the statistics

Destiny calculates the statistics differently, depending on the view (summary vs. detail) and your role (site user vs. district user).

  • For a site patrons manager, the summary view includes counts for all patrons associated with their school, grouped by Patron Type. To display a detailed list of patrons of that Patron Type, click on the Patron Type. All circulations (local and off-site) are counted in both the summary and detail views.
  • For a district patrons manager, the summary includes counts for patrons grouped by the Patron Type they are assigned to at their primary site. The summary displays circulation counts only for the patrons' primary site.
  • To display a list of schools that use a Patron Type, click on a Patron Type
  • To display a detailed view of all patrons associated with the school, click on a school in this list. The detailed view shows circulation counts for all the patrons' checkouts and renewals.

Note: Because the summary and detail views at the district differ in the way they handle patron associations, their circulation counts may differ.

  • For libraries and district media centers, in-district interlibrary circulations are included.
Note: Destinyincludes only statistics for those patrons currently in the database. When patrons are deleted, their circulation statistics are also deleted.

Understand the numbers in the columns

In the Patrons column, the number is the total number of patrons in that group.

Under Circulations, the Today, This [calendar] Month, This [statistical] Year, and Total [since you installedDestiny] columns list the number of circulations for the period attributed to the patrons. In brackets is the corresponding percentage of circulations for the column.

The total number of all circulations for the period is at the bottom of the column.

Note: If you converted from Circulation Plus, the Total includes the number of circulations since you installed Circulation Plus. Depending on when you converted, This Year may also include circulations made in Circulation Plus.
