Create a list of barcode numbers

There are several barcode collection methods to choose from to ensure your list results in the proper simple text format.

You can use:

  • Follett Remote, a small single-user application, to create the file.
    • For workstations, Follett Remote is available for download from Help.
    • If you have a Follett Panther or Follett 7100 Wireless Scanner, tap Follett Remote on the device's desktop.
  • Any Follett circulation scanner to scan barcodes. Then, transfer the scan file to your workstation.
  • A circulation scanner to scan barcodes into a text editor, producing the proper simple text format. Or you can manually type in each barcode number.

Note: Approved text editors include Notepad and SimpleText. Do not use Microsoft Word, Excel, WordPad or Apple TextEdit to create or edit the file. Hidden characters created by these programs can cause the upload to fail.

To create the file with a text editor:

  1. Open the text editor (Notepad, SimpleText or another text editor that creates a file using the simple text format).
Note: The file does not need a header.
  1. Scan or type in the barcode numbers.

Note: There can only be one barcode per line. If you type the barcode numbers, press Enter after each entry.

  2. Name and save the file as a .txt file.
  3. Write down the name and location of the file.

When the list is complete, upload the file to Destiny.
