Add digital content to a title

You can add digital content, such as documents or URLs, to a title in Library Manager and Textbook Manager.

Important: Adding digital content to a title in Textbook Manager is available in Destiny v10.5 and higher.

Library Manager

You can create a link to digital content, such as streaming audio or video, and store the content on the Destiny server.

Notes:

  • When you delete the digital content or the title record, the digital content is also deleted from the server.
  • To upload digital content, you need the Add/edit/delete digital content in titles permission.
  • To successfully open media files on your workstations or search stations, you may need to update the add-ons or plug-ins in your browsers.

To add digital content:

Note: You can get to the Add Digital Content page several ways; this is one.
  1. Search for a title record in Catalog > Library Search.

In the MARC record, Destiny creates a new 856 tag with the digital content name in subfield _y, the URL in subfield _u, and the expiration date (if specified) in subfield _x.

The content name appears as a link in the Explore! section of Title Details. When a patron clicks the link, the content opens in a new browser window.

The digital content itself is stored on the Destiny server. Because these files can be quite large, your Destiny Administrator may have set size restrictions to prevent the server from running out of space.
