Author

Enter the name of the person primarily responsible for the title, last name first, such as Canfield, Jack.

To retrieve a list of author headings from your records, use the Find Heading feature:

  1. Type the last name in the Name field.
  2. Click Find Heading to open the Browse Headings page.
    The entered term appears in the Find field.
    A list of headings closest to your entered term appears beneath it.
  3. To change the type of headings list, choose Bibliographic or Authority Headings from the list and click Go.
    A list of headings appears.
  4. To locate the desired heading, browse through the list.
  5. To copy the desired author to the title record, click Select next to the heading in the list.
Important: Selecting a heading overwrites any previously existing information in the field.

Enter certain authors in the MARC editor

Enter these author types in the MARC editor:

  • Personal names with titles, numeration or with the full name in parenthesis
    (e.g., John Paul II, Pope, 1920- or
    Smith, Elizabeth A. (Elizabeth Ann), 1923-1989.)
  • Names based on a forename or family name (e.g., Farquar family or Aristotle)
  • Corporations (e.g., Ford Motor Company)
  • Conferences (e.g., World Peace Conference)

This field corresponds to the 100_a tag of the MARC21 format.

Destiny enters 1 in the 1st indicator position and leaves the 2nd position empty for this field.
